ABOUT:

Originally launched in 2019 and relaunching in 2025, the series blends the intimacy of a listening-room performance with the high-quality production of a media appearance. Artists are encouraged to perform semi-acoustically, though electric instruments are welcome. This format creates a memorable connection between the artist and a small, attentive audience as stories and insights about the music are shared.

Key Takeaways for Performing Artists:

  • Performance Preview: Featured in The Spot 518 in print, online, and on social media.

  • Post-Performance Feature: Artist interview and event recap in The Spot 518 across all platforms.

  • Exceptional Venue: Studio-quality performance space with professional instruments and optional session musicians.

  • Content Creation: Complete recording of the performance, mixed audio, and multi-camera video.

  • Photo Recap: High-quality images from the performance.

  • Artist Compensation: $1,000 stipend plus mutually agreed-upon hospitality.

  • Merchandise Sales: Artists retain 100% of merchandise sales, with venue assistance available if needed.

  • Available Dates: We tentatively schedule performances for the first Thursday of each month, but we can be flexible. If you have a scheduling conflict, we may be able to accommodate it. Currently, we have openings starting April 3rd and continuing throughout the year.

Included Coverage:

Leading up to the event, The Spot 518—New York Capital Region’s premier arts and entertainment publication—will publish a performance preview both in print and online. Post-performance, the publication will feature an extensive interview with the artist and event coverage, including a photo recap. All coverage will be shared across The Spot 518’s website, social media channels, and its award-winning weekly arts and entertainment newspaper, ensuring excellent exposure for the artist.

Performances take place in the live room of Studio A at White Lake Studios, which boasts exceptional acoustics, professional sound reinforcement, and high-quality lighting. Artists also have access to top-tier instruments, including a Yamaha C7 Grand Piano, Hammond B3 organ with Leslie speaker, and percussion equipment from Sawtooth Instruments. Session musicians are available upon request, with costs covered by the series if arranged in advance.

Each performance is recorded and mixed to network-quality standards, captured with a multi-camera system, and later provided to the artist along with a mixed audio file.

While this series is designed as a media and content-generating opportunity, artists will also receive financial compensation and reasonable hospitality.
